Ch 2 – 16 – Perhaps I Judged Wrong

Does Ice trust humans too much?  Your opinion on how good we’ve taken care of this planet?  How much of your opinion do you think are formed by media hype?

Also want to to bring attention to the practice of Slash and Burn Agriculture.  Mainly affecting the dense rain forests in the African Congo/Central Africa (where Fleance lived).  I don’t have an opinion on this issue.  As with most environment issues,  It’s easy for us in developed first class nation to say these are destructive and should be stopped.  On the other hand, agriculture is a one of the necessity things for a developing nation.  If you can’t even be certain that you’d have food for your family the next 2 days, the last thing you’d be worried about is what is good for the environment.

For these trees I used Photoshop brushes made by these awesome people: Horhew & charfade on DA

    yay! Update! :D
Poor Fleance :(….and in a way, poor Ice as well, only in the respect that it would make him have to question his thoughts on humans….I hope those two don’t end up conflicting too much on the matter :(
I think we do harm the environment too much…but then, there’re also a lot of people out there doing a lot to help it as well.
I understand agriculture is an important thing to others lives, for certain it’s necessary….but in saying that, places like the Congo, the Amazon etc….need to be left alone.
    *shrugs*…it’s just my opinion….

Your opinion is what I’m interested in knowing since I don’t actually have one on the matter. I would never set foot in the Congo, they have too many things that wants to eat you. LOL I think the world should retain some of its mysteries, I miss those days when the village people can talk about how there’s a giant this and that in the forest (whoa rant).

But my passion for the environmental movements and things stopped when it came out of a politician’s mouth. I’ve heard enough propaganda to know it when I see it. I do believe in the individuals who tries to do their best in saving the planet, but not the government.

Unfortunately you’ll find out next page how much these two can disagree on this matter…

      • TwilightDreamer

I completely agree on the subject that, I believe there are things we’re just not meant to know about, or understand…no matter how curious we are, or how good our intentions might be. Lol, I usually reserve that opinion more for topics like supernatural and stuff XP….but I also include it for some subjects of the environment…eg, the deep depths of the ocean…it’s cool to know things can live that far down, but at the same time, I have no need or desire to know WHAT’S down there….since I wouldn’t set foot there even if it were possible XD (lol, don’t worry, now I’m ranting XD).
That’s a bit of a tight rope topic….the government does need to support environmental issues, and help out where necessary, but keep it out of the political debates and advertisement.
Oh dear….^^’….I was worried what Ice just said might get on Fleance’s nerves….

Ice does trust humans too much but that’s probably just his nature. Honestly humans are an arrogant species, the earth has been here for a very long time and will remain here for a very long time after we are all dead and gone, we really can’t alter the earth all that much and even if we do Gaia will survive and thrive

  • Midoki

I see you changed the story a bit from your rough draft site

    • Morbidprince

Yes, that’s not the only thing I changed :D trimmed a lot of fat from the rough draft, added a few things to make the plot smoother this and that

      • Midoki

I still love it <3 Now I can anticipate for something different to happen then.

        • Morbidprince

I’m glad to hear that Midoki! And hopefully it will be less confusing

          • Midoki

Don’t worry. Everything makes sense so far.

  • Sagechan

That first panel is amazing, theres a lot of darkened painful emotion in it. I just can not get over how different Ice looks, well he’s not really different in looks but it’s the feel of his character in just these pages. The story line change feels a little better than having it cut like in the draft.

The dialog in the first panel feels forced to me.”My forest was one of the first forest after the great flood.” I may be wrong but maybe a subtle change to, “[My forest] first to grow after the great flood.” or simply add an s “[My forest] first forests after the great flood.”

    • ArtieDear

Not to be rude, but neither of those make sense. :x I would change it to “Mine was one of the first forests to grow after the Great Flood.” Flows much nicer. <3

      • Morbidprince

Thanks both of you!! Thanks Artie, I think I will use that!

    • Morbidprince

Thanks Sagie! And thanks for pointing out regarding the first line too!

Really? Ice different? Like more mature or…? I think the rough draft during that time I was still roughing out the characters and trying to develop them XD

  • Inuhime

I see them butting heads on the subject of humans. But a dog can’t help it really… I think Ice is showing that very well.

  • PuzzleSavant

Lovely contrast in their feelings towards humans. I don’t agree with their methods of farming, but I can’t blame them since their technology there is limited.

  • TG

aww, poor naive little thing. Humans, taking care of the earth… pffft. They wanted farm land!

  • Midoki

I forgot to mention this a couple of days ago, but that background in the first panel came out really gorgeous.

    • Ocearen

I can totally hear the crackling of the fire as it burns….

    • Morbidprince

Aww thanks! :) I had a lot of fun doing that!

      • Midoki

It’s good to heard you had fun doing what you like.
